Last week, we went on a short family vacation–camping in Traverse City. And, when I say camping, it was really as close as camping I’m willing to get. We staying in nice little cabins, with a kitchenette and bathroom, but we still did the whole campfire thing, which is about the only thing I actually do like about camping.
We went up with some friends of ours who have done this trip for the past couple years and invited us along this year, knowing how I feel about “camping.” Truthfully, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. But I am so glad that we went. We all had a great time and Eli keeps asking when we can go back to the dunes. I’ll list all of the fun places we went and ate at the end if you’re planning a trip to Traverse City with tiny humans. But, here are a bunch of pictures from our trip.
The first day, we went to the sand dunes at Sleeping Bear Park.
RJ and Eric climbed the dunes with the kids. I stayed behind with Alice and my friend Donna. The kids were crazy and loved it. It was pretty windy and our coolest day of our trip.
After they climbed the big dune, we went on the scenic walk so I didn’t have to climb a real big dune with Alice, and we took our one and only family photo of the trip.
Sometimes, I can’t believe how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful state. The next day we went into downtown Traverse City for the day to play on the beach and eat some tasty food.
Emmy was wiped. She slept in the stroller for so long–she didn’t even wake up for dinner.
The next day we took it easy at the camp and then headed downtown again later.
And we had to stop at Moomers to get some ice cream and check out those cows.
Have you ever traveled to Traverse City with little kids? Do you loathe camping as much as I do? Let me know in the comments!
