The past week over here in the Grunewald house has been full of puke and boogers and now, pink eye. I’m exhausted. I feel like my poor children cannot catch a break. I feel like I’ve been doing laundry nonstop for the last week. I admit, I didn’t listen to my own advice and I’ve been sucked into the black hole that is googling your child’s symptoms. (ps-googling pink eye images will probably make your eyes start to feel itchy.)
Amidst the chaos of having sick tiny humans, we’ve managed to squeeze in some fun adventures. Here’s what our life has looked like lately, according to my iPhone:
We had a few days of beautiful spring weather mixed in with the cloudy and rainy (and one snowy) days. Eli and Emmy both fell in love with the see saw, and I definitely felt it in my legs the next morning! Guess this mama needs to work out more…
These two are very affectionate. Even though this looks like he may be hurting her, it was super sweet. Emaline would wait at the bottom for him and then she’d kind of tackle-hug him at the bottom. I love how much they love each other.
We celebrated our favorite super 3 year old’s birthday at the most amazing party. We clearly had to get decked out in super hero gear. If you’re wondering why Eli is clutching his Hunter boot, he put his guys in there. Apparently a Hunter boot is the perfect vessel to carry all of your guys when you leave home.
Mom’s Day in Eli’s preschool was so fun. I love seeing him in his classroom, he made sure I knew what every single dinosaur was in the dino bucket. He was so adorable and proud when he sang the special Mother’s Day songs on the stage. And how perfect is his pizza tee from, Swanky Shank? I knew he had to have it when I saw it, because my boy loves pizza, and his mama.
We went up to Frakenmuth for a night, and even though Emaline puked in the hotel room, we still had a great time. I am so excited for it to be summer so, these water babies can swim more.
Emaline falling asleep in her stroller at dinner should’ve been my first clue that she wasn’t 100%. But, she was happy as can be after she was done screaming about being stuck in the shower to clean off. And she woke up the next morning asking to swim.
Eli has got a spring cold. Or maybe it’s just allergies. Whatever it is, he has been sleeping awful and is significantly more emotional and crabby than usual. And cuddly. But I don’t mind the cuddles from my little man. He is acting so grown lately I just want to cuddle him and keep him tiny forever.
Eli had his first tee ball game last week. Despite the protests from him that he was not going to play, he actually really enjoyed it.
I sort of love how small the tee shirt makes him look and I’m excited to spend the next few weeks on the sidelines watching a bunch of 4 year olds “play” tee ball.
Currently, little miss pink eye and her sassy big brother are in the bounce house with their daddy. Everything is better when daddy is home. We could use some prayers for Emaline’s pink eye, that she heals quickly and Eli doesn’t get it. We could also really use some sleep, because we are exhausted.
