I have thought about blogging so many times in the past month, but every time I sit down to do it I am just too exhausted to think or type or do anything besides rest when my babies are asleep.
It has been a hard month. Elijah is testing me every day. Two and a half is a tricky age for him. He wants to be a big kid, “I do it myself!” is a phrase I hear multiple times a day. But he isn’t big enough to do everything himself.
Since Emaline is super mobile now (army crawling super fast, scooting, crawling, attempting to pull herself up) he is getting more physical with her. So its a struggle for us all.
On top of that, we have been sick for the last week.
And Emaline basically hates to sleep. So that is just awesome all around.
Being a mom is hard. Really hard.
But in the midst of all the chaos and pee accidents and power struggles and waking every two hours at night and boogers and time outs and tiny handfuls of my hair being pulled out by tiny little hands, we have had some fun adventures in the last stretch of summer.
We went up to the cottage one last time, and stopped at The Smokehouse on the way. This pictures seriously captures both kids perfectly right now, Eli not cooperating and Emaline being her happy little self.
We went to Arts, Beats, and Eats. They had a cool NBA Nation area where Eli got his stats taken and made into a trading card.
I took Elijah on our first mama and monkey date since before Emaline was born. He last about halfway through Planes Fire and Rescue before he started asking to go home. He was super excited about the singing Annie cutout. So I see that movie date in our future. I love a good musical.
We met some friends at the zoo. We only really saw the polar bears because the playground was where the kids wanted to be.
We left Emmy with her grandma and grandpa and took Eli to the Selfridge Airshow. He was a champ waiting in traffic. And was super excited about the helicopters and airplanes.
Elijah discovered the joy of pushing his little sister in the swing. Emmy is in love with swinging.
It helps to remember the fun stuff when we are on the eleventh time out of the day and Emaline will not let me put her down.
