Elijah found a magic kingdom map from our last trip to Disney. After he attempted to eat a few stickers, he decided to cuddle the map. I guess it’s easier for him to visualize being on main street that way.
I have realized that my house will be a mess until fall comes, since the monkey wants to spend every waking moment outside. I hope my husband is okay with this…
sometimes I keep the curtains shut in the morning in hopes to trick Elijah into forgetting that the outside is there. This has not worked yet.
We’ve been spending our afternoons playing in the backyard, and I know I am going to have the best tan I have had in years this summer.
we are ready for summer. so ready.
ready for sunny days. picnics. grass stains on all of monkey’s clothes. sticky, popsicle faces. bare feet. sunscreen. sprinklers. days in the pool. long weekends. burgers on the grill. sundresses and sandals for mama. walks to the park. play dates outdoors with friends. and so much more.
I have noticed that I take less pictures of Elijah’s everyday outfits because he is so busy. all. the. time. And when it’s rainy, we like to have comfy days around the house…and no one cares about the pjs he wears at night. Although I do love it when he is in his jams and he looks like a baby monkey again instead of the toddler monkey he has become.
Here are a couple things he’s worn recently:
Puddle Splashing Wear. In addition to puddles, Eli discovered worms. And he discovered that when he tries to pick up a worm his mama freaks out and he thinks it is hilarious and tries to pick it up again. So maybe I should call this his “Worm Grabbing Wear.”
jacket: The Children’s Place
jeans: baby Gap
rain boots: Western Chief from zulily
Play Clothes. His skinnies have awesome grass stains on the knees. I hope he doesn’t go through his jeans as quickly as his boy-grown-up daddy.
skinnies: Old Navy
shoes: Vans (sadly, the monkey has outgrown these trusty Vans.)
Party Clothes. This handsome little man was my date to a family wedding this past weekend. I probably should’ve taken more (and better) pictures of him this day, but chasing a monkey around wearing pumps and a dress does not leave much time for photographs. (To be clear, I was the one wearing the pumps and dress, not Eli.)
bow tie: designergirls from Etsy
black jeans: Truly Scrumptious by Heidi Klum
Shopping Clothes. I am in love with these yellow skinny jeans from babyGap. They don’t look so skinny in this picture because I bought them a little big so he could wear them longer. Another thing I am in love with is this tee he has on. Can’t you just picture Judd Nelson walking across that football field and throwing his fist up in the air and hear “don’t you (forget about me)” by simple minds playing in your head…I sure can.
hoodie: osh kosh b’gosh
tee: zulily (I don’t remember the brand of it, but zulily has the coolest tee shirts for kiddos.)
sneakers: stride rite
I don’t know if I am more excited to break out the spring and summer clothes for Elijah or for myself. I have a few maxi dresses and skirts hanging in my closet that are just begging to be worn…

Oh, Spring. We missed you.
We received a zoo pass as a Christmas gift from RJ’s awesome aunt and uncle; and have been waiting for a nice spring day to use it. Monday was the perfect day. And we had the best time.
At first, Elijah just chowed down on some snacks and pointed at birds. But when he saw actual zoo animals, he was hooked.
The monkey was pretty interested in actual monkeys. The little ones were hard for him to spot in the trees, but he sure could spot the gorillas. He also enjoyed looking at the signs with the pictures of all the animals, which are apparently just as interesting as live animals to a one-year-old.
I think the giraffes were his favorite. Especially since he kept seeing their heads from other parts of the zoo, which was very exciting for him.
Oh, thanks for showing us your chewed up graham cracker…such a silly man.
The buffalo were pretty cool, too.
The last thing we saw was the Arctic area, where we saw polar bears outside. (We didn’t see any swimming in the underwater tunnel, which was a bummer.)
We did see seals! Eli thought that was pretty awesome.
There was a group of people near us in the Arctic area dressed as pirates. Pirates are distracting to a little monkey. Even when you are in a tunnel under water.
A storm was coming as we left, so it got a little bit windy…
It was such a fun day. I cannot wait for us to go again.
I know that the AAP recommends no TV for kids under two…but when you’ve had a migraine for two days and your one year old is as busy as the monkey is, movies are a God-send.
Eli has watched both Cars movies, and Monsters, Inc the past couple days. And I use the term “watched” loosely because he will sit for a few minutes and then wander off and play. or play his piano. or cuddle his mama. or bring his mama a toy to kiss.
or ask for more grapes.
Which brings me to the second thing I am oh-so-thankful for: grapes. He eats them like candy. He went through half a bunch in one afternoon.
I won’t elaborate on his diaper situation after the said grapes…but it wasn’t pretty.
We have had a crazy couple of weeks. Between a stomach bug and Easter festivities, the second half of March flew by.

March Madness is a big deal in our house. I think we’ve had every game on so far. A few weeks ago I scored a little tikes basketball hoop at a mom2mom sale for $10 and Eli has been in love with basketball ever since. He is quite good at making baskets the normal way, too. Not just pulling it down to his face. The monkey will get excited every time he sees his basketball.Elijah’s daddy decided that he needs a real basketball, not just a toy basketball. So he got one at Target. He was so happy he played with it in his carseat the whole drive home.He needs to hold the ball while he watches the games with daddy.I love my boys.Rj took Eli into the ball closet at church and Eli was amazed.
