Dear Baby Girl,
Today we were on the swing while elijah was napping, because you refused to nap, probably because you knew it was the most beautiful day. You instructed me to sit on the swing “sit mama. pick emmy up.” And then as we swang, you just giggled and said “wee wee”. It was the most beautiful sound I could hear today.
After days of you being sick and crabby, your giggles were the best. You were giggling so hard that you got the hiccups. and I love it when that happens.
I love spending time with you one on one, and just seeing the tiny human you are becoming. Every day you seem less and less like a baby and so much more like your own person.
You are stubborn and sassy, but you are the sweetest girl.
I love your unsolicited hugs and the “I love you mama” that follows. Even if you are trying to steal my iPhone half the time.
You are looking like such a kid these days, especially when you are wearing a twirly twirly dress or skirt. Your legs are so long.
You have opinions about every single thing. From what shoes you are going to wear to which sippy cup you want to drink out of.
I’m glad some parts of you are still baby-like. The way you cuddle before bed. or that you have barely any hair (even though I often long for you to have more hair that I can braid and put into piggies).
You are so caring. You take care of your babies and you pick up after yourself. When Elijah is sad or angry you always go up to him and try to cheer him up. I love how much you and Eli love each other. It makes me feel like I am doing okay at this whole motherhood thing.
I never want to forget the way you stand up and smile in the morning and announce “Emmy all done sleeping.” or the way that you giggle and say “oh, Emmy tooted” and wait for everyone around you to giggle too. Or that sweet grin of yours. or the way you just get a paci and a blanket and get cozy right on the floor if you’re ready to sleep.
I love you baby girl.
