Earlier this week, we had Molly take some fun pictures for Emmy’s one year and Elijah’s 3 year pictures. I wanted there to be balloons in the pictures so RJ bought some at Party City that morning. I am so happy with how they turned out.
Here’s one of my favorites of Eli:
This particular infuriating yet adorable incident happened the morning after the photo shoot.
I was trying to get dressed while Elijah and Emaline were playing in the hallway. The balloons were starting to deflate so they weren’t all floaty up in the air any longer. Elijah kept chasing Emaline with them. I kept telling him to stop. He then rolled around on the floor with the balloons and his baby sister. I checked on them because Emaline was yelling and they are both tangled in the balloons and strings. It took me a few minutes to untangle Emaline and then Elijah. I told him I was going to throw the balloons away if he kept rolling in them. 15 seconds later he was tangled again.
I wanted to make a point, I was angry. I went and got some scissors and started popping the balloons right in front of Elijah. Not my best parenting decision, kind of irrational, but I wanted to show him I meant business. That I don’t make empty threats.
I popped 8 balloons when Elijah looks at me, and says “Thank you, mama. I only wanted the orange one anyway.” and walks away holding the single orange balloon that was left.
Really? He acts all sweet and polite and my “punishment” doesn’t even phase him.
This boy of mine…
